Turkish Austrian Bali Fam-Trip
02. - 11.09.2019

In the first week of September, our travel expert Carina, invited by Turkish Airlines, explore the Indonesian island of Bali. In addition to a well-dosed number of hotel visits, they also get a decent insight into the culture as well as the country and people of Bali.
With about 5.600km2 this small island has an unbelievable variety to offer. It is rightly called "PULAU DEWATA", the island of the gods - because the Balinese celebrate their offerings daily.
(homemade palm bowls with incense sticks, flowers and other offerings) to make gods and demons peaceful.
The island is characterized by small and large temples, incredibly fascinating rice terraces, beautiful long beaches, jungle, arts and crafts, massages, yoga and spirituality.

Strand Seminyak

On September 2nd, after a short working day, it is time to pack our suitcases and head for the airport. From Graz via Istanbul we fly 17h to Denpasar, the capital of Bali.
Thanks to the organization of the Turkish Airlines family trip, we enjoy the comfort of the business class of the newly introduced Dreamliner.
Sufficiently supplied with food and drinks, we move into the Flat Bed, where we wake up relaxed after a a long night. If you can't sleep after all, you can pass the hours with the entertainment programme on board or phone your loved ones at home via Wifi above the clouds.

Due to the time difference we lose a few hours today and arrive in Denpasar around 8 p.m. We spend our first two nights at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Nusa Dua.
The rooms of the lowest category are very spacious, partly bigger than our own apartments in Austria. Classic style, clean gardens with impressive flowers wherever you look. The breakfast is varied, the staff remarkably obliging.

Strengthened by a splendid breakfast we start the day with some hotel visits. The Rennaissance Resort & Spa in Jimbaran deserves a special mention.

In the late afternoon we arrive at the temple Uluwatu, which is enthroned on a cliff. There we experience a one hour Kecak Dance - is a Balinese dance drama, which we follow fascinated between hundreds of other spectators.
In the evening we enjoy a welcome dinner together with two employees of Panorama Destination, who initiate us into Indonesian life with their stories.

The next day we start a tour to some temples, including Tanah Lot, Ulun Danu Beratan and Taman Ayun. Highlight of this excursion day were the famous rice terraces Jatiluwih, which captivate with their endless bright green.
We spend the next two nights at the Hyatt Regency in Sanur.

Hotel HYATT REGENCY SANUR: - after 5 years of complete renovation it opened its doors again in March 2019 - you will find spacious rooms and a wonderful garden. Very good beach bar - excellent kitchen.

After a day of hotel visits around Sanur, we start this morning as spectators of a meditative dance. We visit a smithy and a master woodcarver followed by three hotel visits. Today the program is a bit shorter as we spend only one night in the Alaya Hotel Ubud. Some of us use the free time for a Balinese massage, which is not only relaxing, but also very inexpensive.

Encouraged by the massage we want to explore the nightlife of Ubud which proves to be difficult - many bars close at 10 p.m. / 11 p.m.
In Ubud wellness and city life can be wonderfully combined. Right next to the "Monkey Forest" you are in the middle of the action of Ubud City, but nevertheless you can find peace and quiet inside the complex.

court of justice

The next day, nature and culture are on the agenda again. Next to Lake Batur and Mount Batur we see the Village of Penglipuran Bangli where locals sell their handicrafts, Mount Agun and the impressive temple complex Besakih.

At lunch we are surprised with a breathtaking view of rice terraces.
Before that we experience a cockfight "for gambling".
An experience as the only two women between hundreds of men.
In the late afternoon we went to the Court of Justice in Klunkung.
The evening ends in the south of Kuta (Tuban). In the hotel Avaya we spend our last two nights.

Hotel ANVAYA: In the middle of the hustle and bustle of Kuta - very beautiful complex, with excessive breakfast buffet

We enjoy leisure time and lots of sun on our departure day.
Late in the evening we say goodbye to the beautiful island.
Turkish Airlines brings us safely back to Graz via Istanbul.
